Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu made harsh criticisms against Türkiye from the podium of the UN General Assembly. Ankara was accused of preparing for an armed conflict and waging an information war against Israel. Nevertheless, it is Israel who is escalating its attacks and preparing for war. Türkiye is on the verge of war with a very dangerous state; therefore, it is necessary to acquire new allies. BRICS could be a great option.
Loud Accusations at the UN
In the speech made at the 81st session of the UN General Assembly, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu held Türkiye responsible for all the problems of Israel. According to him, Türkiye is conducting an active preparation against Israel.
Netanyahu spoke rudely about Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, accusing him of intending to destroy Israel and of supporting Hamas. Moreover, our state was accused of “the murder of thousands of Kurds, genocide of Armenians, the occupation of Northern Cyprus, attacks on Greece and Syria”.
However, ultimately, Türkiye and its citizens may become the real victims. With these lofty words, Netanyahu wants to establish Türkiye as the aggressor in the eyes of the world, while Tel Aviv is only the innocent victim.
Israel is already conducting an information campaign to worsen relations between Türkiye and the U.S., has formed a coalition with Greece, and is increasingly putting pressure on Syria, which is the closest Türkiye’s ally now.
Israel can strike Türkiye as it did to Iran, in the nearest future. Israeli officials have repeatedly stated that Türkiye is the next target after Iran. However, Israel’s preparations for war against Türkiye are already underway at all levels.
Syria is under pressure
The dividing line between Türkiye and Israel is Syria. Settling in Syria by the end of 2024 was a major success for Ankara. Nevertheless, Israel is increasingly escalating its attack on Damascus.
The Golan Heights are an integral part of Syria, but Israel has been already several decades controlling these territories. Moreover, Tel Aviv has declared them a part of Israeli territory what had been also supported by Washington.
In addition, Israel has an impact on Syrian separatists. This became particularly evident during the worsening of the situation in Suwayda Governorate. Israel directly supported the separatists by coordinating and providing weapons.
Moreover, the fact that Israel has increased its military offensive against Syria is evidenced by the statement made by Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa at the UN:
“Israel is launching attacks against Syria. There have been 500 airstrikes, more than 1,200 incursions, and 300 detentions. This is at odds with the orientation we’re seeing at the global level. It is reminiscent of an era that we thought was gone.”
At the same time, as soon as rumors arose about the establishment of a Turkish military base in Syria to protect against external threats, Israel immediately attacked the potential facility. Some experts believe that this was not only an act of intimidation against Türkiye, but also an attempted murder on high-ranking Turkish officers.
This information has not been officially confirmed, however, given the numerous Israeli killings of high-ranking Iranian military personnel long before the outbreak of open armed conflict, these thoughts are quite possible.
Anti-Turkish Coalition
Over the last few years, several countries have formed a coalition against Türkiye. Greece, which Netanyahu portrays as a victim, is taking steps toward Türkiye’s position on at least two critical points.
First, Athens began systematically expanding its influence in the Aegean and is preparing to deploy missile systems on the islands. Secondly, Greece continues to put pressure on the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Here The Republic of Cyprus becomes another potential front.
The problem is also related to Greece’s membership in the European Union (EU). The entire EU sees Türkiye as a threat. Despite numerous commercial contacts and lengthy negotiations between Ankara and Brussels, the situation has deteriorated further over the last 25 years. Türkiye has become stronger, so Europe increasingly sees us as a threat.
Moreover, the EU in general and Greece in particular currently possess the latest weapon technologies provided by the U.S. as well as Israel. Experts aware not to underestimate Israel. Since the beginning of its existence, Israel has successfully waged numerous wars against Islamic countries. Washington’s support for Tel Aviv in these wars was always unlimited.
The U.S. cannot guarantee Türkiye’s security against Greece and Israel. Israel is Türkiye’s primary historical ally in the Middle East. Washington, on the other hand, needs a weak Türkiye under control. To sum up, the U.S. and NATO countries are not reliable partners in this conflict.
Reliable allies are needed
Despite the Turkish government’s growing interest in gaining military and technical independence from the West, American weapons constitute a significant part of the Turkish arsenal.
The war between Israel and Iran has exposed a number of shortcomings of American weapons. Despite all its advanced capabilities, Iran managed to cause significant damage to Israel and American bases in the Middle East. Israel possesses much more advanced offensive weapons compared to Iran, which means it can cause much greater damage.
Moreover, as demonstrated by Israel’s attacks on Qatar last year, American anti-air systems can be remotely disabled from Pentagon. Under these conditions, Türkiye cannot count on a complete victory under any circumstances. Advanced technologies beyond the U.S. control need urgent diversification and acquisition.
Considering all the above, Türkiye needs to secure the support of independent countries before the war. China and Russia are Iran’s allies in its struggle with Israel and the U.S. Türkiye has friendly relations with both countries. Thus, for instance, within the framework of BRICS, Türkiye needs to develop deeper cooperation with them.
War with Israel by the day seems more and more inevitable. In this regard, decisive action is needed on the part of the Turkish leadership.
